THE CURIOUS OBSERVER

ATTENTIVE PERCEIVERS OF THE STORIES THAT SURROUND US

ABOUT THE CURIOUS OBSERVER

The Curious Observer is a creative organisation, from which, reflective projects may flourish.

C.O. prides itself on producing multi-disciplinary art and media, with the key aim of expressing beautiful stories.

We are defined by our common goals:

Social Change - We believe in the strength of media, to communicate difficult narratives and opinions. We believe it is our duty to make use of this power with the creation of fascinating projects. Whether it be through giving the spotlight to under-represented voices, or through brave new research and expression.

> Artistic Integrity - At C.O. our ideas come first and our 'how?' comes second. We seek to experiment with our craftsmanship, to create works that are not only of quality, but that speak to our audience openly, without barriers.

Community Engagement - Our objective of giving voices to others, does not just stop at our artists, but continues into our community. If you feel that you are not being heard, or that you have a means of helping the world, we want to help you on your journey.

Heres wishing you peace and love in your day today. We hope you enjoy perusing through our site.

THE CREATOR OF C.O.

The Curious Observer was set up in 2017 by Jane Hearst.

Grounded by a set of key principles, she wanted to create a platform in which she could share her work, and that allowed for the introduction of more artists in her projects.

Jane has an varied background in the creative industries, working with companies such as NCS, BFI, TIFF, Project Trust, Dare to Diva, Dust2Dawn, Channel 4, Rural Media and Maverick TV.

Graduating from University of Lincoln, with a 1st Class Honours degree in Media production, Jane specialises in film directing/writing and producing.

Following her studies she worked with Threshold Studios as a Project and Production Assistant, where she learnt the necessary skills to launch The Curious Observer.

She has extensive travel experience, having lived in Thailand, studied in America and India, and completed an internship in Canada. Moving forward, she hopes that the projects she leads, will not just end at her local borders, but that she may inspire her community by creating films that explore other ways of living.

Jane has a passion for research, philosophy, Berkovian theatre, musicals, films that make you cry, fine art and belly laughs. She hopes that one day the work of The Curious Observer may have a lasting affect on our community, from policy changes and enlightening research, to beautiful pieces of art that help us to reflect our identity & mental health.
